July 02, Colombo: The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced Thursday that the next Twenty20 World Cup will be held in Sri Lanka in 2012. The 2014 event will be held in Bangladesh, the ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat said in a statement. The ICC is considering a move to increase the number of participating teams in the World Twenty20 while reducing the number in the 50-over World Cup.
Sri Lanka is co-hosting the 2011 one-day World Cup tournament from Feb. 19 to Apr. 2, 2011 along with India and Bangladesh.
Sri Lanka will host 12 matches including one quarter-final and a semi-final at three venues in the country.
